I WRITE in disgust after learning that Tom Kerr, a Conservative councillor, has sided with the SNP in West Lothian yet again, this time by voting in support of the council making a submission to the Scottish Government supporting the break up of the United Kingdom.
This man in my view is selling out his voters and must be challenged for his actions.
It is clear to us all that status and press photos mean more to Provost Tom Kerr than his own party’s position on the Union.
Conservative party policy on the Union states: “We believe that Scotland enjoys great benefits from being part of the United Kingdom. In many ways, we Scots have the best of both worlds.
“Our devolved, Scottish Parliament has control over crucial issues like healthcare, housing, crime and childcare. Nonetheless, we are part of a country, the UK, which has huge worldwide influence in bodies like the EU, NATO and on the UN Security Council.
“Without the Union, we could only dream of such status.”
Tom Kerr was elected a Conservative and Unionist, which means his voters elected him in support of his party’s position on the Union.
How can Scottish Tory leader, Annabel Goldie, spout off how loyal her party is to the Union at conference this week, yet Tom Kerr sides with West Lothian's SNP in support of the break up of the United Kingdom?
Tom Kerr and the Action to save St John’s Hospital councillors were not elected to support the break up of the Union, nor were they elected to support cuts to key services. They don’t even speak out against the SNP and are now siding with them to end 300 years of proud Scottish and British history.
Every voter has a right to understand, that these councillors are playing with the future of the Union.
What is crystal clear to us all, is that these councillors have undermined the electorate of West Lothian. They should be embarrassed to pick up their council wage; and are a complete disgrace to be representing the public under a false pro Nationalist agenda!
