Proper use of railway parking spaces would ease congestion

WITH reference to the item in the Courier dated September 21 with reference to car parking, I note that the reader did not mention the one on King Street serving the railway station.

This car park has large signs showing parking restrictions of 45 minutes and no return within two hours.

For some time now, this car park has been used by numbers of people who either work in or have businesses nearby.

These cars seem to spend all day using up the spaces and thus shoppers, some of whom are elderly or disabled wishing to make a purchase in nearby shops, are prevented from using the car park facilities.

During the time of the railway disruption, when there are only six parking spaces available, these spaces are filled all day by aforesaid local workers and this must be frustrating for less able-bodied people.

Perhaps the newly formed Business Forum could address this matter too, with a view to shoppers wanting to “shop local” and there would be a domino effect in the upsurge of business in Bathgate.
