Union flag should be flown every day with pride

I WAS quite shocked to find West Lothian Council in the news and in a daily paper over the Union Jack, of all things.

What was the council thinking of?

Does it need to fly two council flags, when one would do. The Union Jack should be flown every day of the week. This episode will not have enhanced the image of the SNP.

Consider the millions who died in the First World War, right through the Second and even now the Iraq and ongoing Afghanistan Wars, they all were part of someone’s family.

You only need to look at the faces of the veterans at the Cenotaph, remembering with such sadness their comrades.

Also, we have to remember what we owe to those who are still suffering from their wounds, mentally and physically, from their experiences of war and unable to resume a normal life.

The council must fly our British flag every day of the year. The other flags mean nothing to me and are merely decorative.

I’m ashamed of West Lothian Council and hope others are too.
