Nov 27 2008 West Lothian Courier
I WISH to complain about the fireworks and the MPs not listening to the people of Scotland about the upset of having to suffer them every night from October through to November 13 and onwards.
Many of my friends, who have dogs, tell me horrible stories about their animals having fits and shaking with fear, even hiding in cupboards.
Lots of people walking their pets tell me about how it affects their pets.
Fireworks night and New Year’s night should be just a celebration of the one day, like it used to be when I was young, but now the shops sell them cheap after Fireworks night and so they go on and on, sometimes after midnight.
Police tell me to contact my councillors or MPs but they do not listen to the ordinary people.
I have contacted cruelty to animals and they are going to try to get something done about it.
I hope we can make it safe also for the elderly people who have to walk past the gardens which run up to the pavements in my area and try to avoid rockets which fly past them, which could result in severe injury.
Mr P.S. Bibby,
Ladywell West
