WHY is every political party frightened of the council tax, even although they describe it as "flawed, unfair and a much hated tax?”
It is obviously something that they shy away from and are frightened to implement any sort of improvement.
The council tax is not a vote catcher and although it might please some it equally does not please others.
When the last incumbents of the Scottish government ‘The Labour Party’ promised to change the hated tax and carried out a review, it never happened.
I wrote to them over a five year period and the same answer was that the review was still ongoing.
However, they never got back in power at Holyrood , and we will never know what they were trying to introduce.
I was overjoyed when the SNP stated that they would adopt a better and fairer system and it was to be revealed this year.
Hopes are dashed again, however, as I read that this has to be shelved because of the cut in the Scottish budget from Westminster
I can only go on dreaming that someday, some political party will come up with an answer, meanwhile I will have to pay through the nose this hated and unfair tax.
