ON Sunday, April 26,for the first time in months, there were two police officers on foot patrol in Murrayfield Estate in Blackburn.
As they passed the local nursery school they stopped and observed three youths running around in the children's play area.
At the same time there were five youths running around the main roof of Murrayfield Primary School, all the youths were clearly visible and one in particular had on a bright red top, which made him really easy to spot.
The noise they were making was drawing everyone's attention to them – everyone that is except the two police officers who proceeded on their way without taking any action.
A couple of weeks ago on a Tuesday night we had a gang of 19 roaming the streets and regularly have a gang of eight running through gardens and being a nuisance, often while waiting for people to bring their cigarettes or alcohol from the shop.
Yet we are led to believe that crime figures are down and everything is quiet and peaceful. We wish.
