Village backs heroes honour

A NEW group has been set up to create a war memorial for a West Lothian community.

Following a packed public meeting, the steering group has been set up to progress a plan to create an outdoor memorial to Broxburn and Uphall’s war heroes.

The meeting was called by the four councillors on the Broxburn, Uphall and Winchburgh Local Area Committee.

And Councillor Ellen Glass, who chairs the Local Area Committee, said she was pleased to see so much support.

She said: “I was especially pleased to see a good turnout of young people.”

The first meeting of the steering group, which is open to the public, takes place in Uphall Community Centre on Wednesday, September 17 at 6pm.
