SO, the Bathgate Regal is 70 years old. It doesn’t look it, but might it not be a good idea to have the building inspectors take a look at the safety of the structure, and in particular the roof?
It seems to me that it must be loose now following the enthusiastic applause given by the audience at the Fine Arts Brass/West Lothian Schools’ Brass Band concert on Monday, 15 September.
I think everyone in the audience must have gone home with sore hands from clapping and tingling ears from what they heard.
What a performance by both groups of musicians.
I had already bought a ticket for the R3 Tenors afternoon session on Thursday and I went along not expecting too much excitement or a huge crowd. How wrong can you be?
Three singers giving it laldy and a capacity audience responding and demanding more when the end of session approached. Phew!
Perhaps it will be quieter on Saturday evening with the Big Band Bash.
Superlatives evade me. Two groups of young musicians displaying their skills and enjoying themselves. A large audience enjoying themselves. What an end to a week. Both bands were terrific.
The organisers of all these events can sit back content that their efforts have been worthwhile.
The building inspectors can have nightmares and the box office can stand by for a big rush next year, Bathgate – 10/10.
