THE PINK carpet was rolled out for Joanne Potter this week, who is bravely battling breast cancer.
The special event was organised to publicise this year’s Breast Cancer Care Scotland Fashion Shows in Glasgow.
Joanne, from Livingston, will be modelling at the fundraising events, held next week.
And to drum up support, the show’s sponsor, National Tyres rolled up to her home with a special pink carpet.
Joanne said: “Since being diagnosed with breast cancer I have realised that money cannot buy your health and without your health, life is very difficult. I have learned the true value of my children and family. I have also met some remarkable people.
“My breast care nurse and oncology nurses have been fabulous to me. I have also benefited from peer support from Breast Cancer Care.
“Taking part in the Breast Cancer Care fashion shows is going to be very uplifting for me.
“I might not look like the person I once was but I value myself so much more and feel I have the confidence to go on stage and strut my stuff.”
On September 25 models from the length and breadth of Scotland will join Joanne on the catwalk in front of family, friends and supporters to raise funds at the Radisson Hotel in Glasgow.
And organisers hope this year’s event will beat last year’s total of £191,000.
Alan Revie, chairman of National Tyres, whose firm has supported the shows since 2005, said: “For us the fashion shows mark the culmination of our fundraising efforts for the year.
“The shows themselves are a fantastic way of celebrating the men and women who are dealing with this disease with courage and dignity.
“It is an inspiring event for everyone who is lucky enough to get a ticket.
“All you have to do is look at the faces of the models taking part to see how important it is that we all continue to support Breast Cancer Care Scotland.”
