SCOTTISH saxophone legend Tommy Smith led the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra (SNJO) during a concert in Linlithgow on Friday.
The event also featured the West Lothian Schools’ Big Band and West Lothian Schools’ Little Band and is a culmination of a project that has seen Tommy and SNJO working with young jazz musicians since January.
Linlithgow MP Michael Connarty, who chairs the SNJO, was at the concert at Linlithgow Academy and was delighted at the standard .
He said: “This was a great concert featuring around 40 secondary pupils from West Lothian taking part.
“They all played wonderfully and their sets highlighted their talents.”
Each of the three bands played their own set and the project is just one being supported by the Scottish Arts Council Youth Music Initiative.
