Adriana to end year on a high note

SINGER-SONGWRITER Adriana Spina is set to round off her most successful year yet.

The Livingston singer is set to play Glasgow on Wednesday (December 17) to end a year which has seen her support international star Sheryl Crow.

Among the other highlights of this year, the Scots-Italian singer-songwriter, has received five-star reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe, wowed London's live music scene and embarked on her first English tour as well as recording her debut album.

Adriana will be playing the Glasgow gig at Pivo Pivo in Waterloo Street, in a performance which will showcase songs from the forthcoming album, and maybe even a festive song or two.

Blending Americana, folk and rock styles and boasting a stunning vocal range, Adriana made headlines in the summer when T in the Park boss Geoff Ellis handpicked her to support Sheryl Crow in the American superstar's only UK headline date.

Impressing the 2500-capacity crowd in the Glasgow Carling Academy, despite suffering a nasty throat infection days before the gig, Adriana's songs wowed Sheryl Crow, who watched from the side of the stage and later told Adriana she put on a great performance.

Adriana's curious slant on the Americana and singer/songwriter genres has proved such a success that she is now regarded as one of the best talents in the independent Scottish music scene.

Her live performances have so far taken her to Seattle, New York, Italy, London and across Scotland.

And she has performed with artists including Paolo Nutini, Oh Susanna!, Tracy Bonham, Ryan Bingham, Jack Savoretti, Kim Richey and Dar Williams.

Her well-received dates at the Edinburgh Fringe in August prompted several positive reviews, with critics stating: This was an absolutely superb gig and I hope I was in at the start of a huge career in the music industry.
