A NEW tree has been planted in Torphichen to mark the village gala day’s 100th anniversary.
Torphichen had a special centenary year, which ended with First Minister Alex Salmond crowning the gala queen.
During storms last winter a mature tree blew down on the edge of Torphichen Park and to fill the gap the decision was later made to plant a centenary horse chestnut tree by Queen Caroline along with a specially made time capsule.
