West Lothian music group gets lottery help

A COUNTY music group for people with disabilities has been awarded a lottery cash windfall.

Musically Active Dudes (Musac) has been awarded £9675 from the Lotto Awards For All kitty.

The money will help the group continue with its worthwhile work for the next year.

Musac is applying to gain charitable status and offers creative release for its members, all of whom have learning or physical disabilities.

The group has been running since June 2008 and more new members are always welcome.

Qualified group leaders Mimi MacKenzie and Marc Pilley take members on a journey of self discovery through voice coaching, instrument playing and movement to music.

The group meets at Elim Pentecostal Church, West Fells Rigg, Knightsridge, Livingston on Thursdays, starting with the morning session at 11am to noon, followed by a one hour lunch break (during term-time there is a lunch club where soup and bread is available).

The afternoon session runs from 1pm to 2pm. Each session costs £5 with members able to take part in one or two sessions as desired.
