New project launched to help homeless people in the county

A NEW project has been launched to help homeless people in West Lothian.

Cyrenians launched their SmartMove project in the Regal Theatre, Bathgate, last week.

Anne Marie Carr from West Lothian Council congratulated the project on its ability to create a win win situation, providing a safe and secure alternative to homelessness for tenant and a professional and effective service to landlords.

The charity works with people who would otherwise be homeless to help them find a private let in their area and secures the guarantee for a specified period while the household settles in.

Lorraine Gillies, senior manager, from Cyrenians explained how pleased the organisation was to be working with West Lothian council and a raft of local landlords to be able to deliver this innovate and effective project.
