LOCAL fundraisers are being urged to follow in celebrities’ footsteps and climb one of the world’s highest peaks for charity.
Breast Cancer Campaign is encouraging adventurers to take on their own challenge and conquer the heights of the world’s highest freestanding mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, to help the charity beat breast cancer.
The next Kilimanjaro Summit Climb available for campaign’s challengers runs from September 17 to 27, so now is your chance to sign up and get training to tackle the impressive 5895m slopes for breast cancer research.
Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the largest volcanoes to ever break through the Earth’s crust and this intense 10-day adventure will see trekkers tackle every eco-system known to mankind as they attempt to reach its summit.
Climbers will be ascending over rough terrain as well as coping with high-altitude conditions.
But it’s not all hard work as they also have the chance to take in the amazing Tanzanian landscapes as well as sleeping under the beautiful star-studded skies.
Sarah England, Breast Cancer Campaign’s Events Executive, said: “The Kilimanjaro Summit Climb may sound tough but it’s the perfect challenge for anyone looking to beat a personal goal, do something positive and become super fit but most importantly, the money raised will help us continue funding innovative world-class research.
“So sign up now for the adventure of a lifetime and help us beat breast cancer.”
Other dates for the Kilimanjaro Summit Climb, and similar events, are available throughout the year.
