Dead Sea Souls on verge of record deal

ONE of West Lothian’s finest bands is within touching distance of a top record deal as it gets ready to represent Scotland in the Big Smoke.

Dead Sea Souls, from Whitburn, take to the stage in London this weekend as part of JAR Record’s A&R Showcase 2009.

The band was selected from hundreds of acts across the country to participate in showcase heats, culminating in last week’s national final.

And it didn’t disappoint, wowing a packed crowd at Edinburgh’s Studio 24 and leaving the judges speechless as they voted unanimously to send it down to London.

It now faces band competition from across the UK, with judges and industry experts selecting one band on the night to be signed to JAR Records.

“We’ve never played there before, it’s come as a bit of a shock but we can’t wait”, said singer Gary Burns. “This is a huge moment for us.”

The band is also playing a homecoming show with The Sunshine Underground at Room at the Top next Friday.
