Superb is Skoda's statement
SKODA claims to be the brand which makes contended drivers and the company is gearing up with a new model for the March registration change.
The wraps are off a new flagship Superb Estate which joins the latest Skoda models such as the popular Roomster and Fabia supermini in the summer. Later in the year the Fabia itself will get the sporty treatment with the arrival of a VRS model.
Skoda is extending its successful no VAT and zero per cent finance campaigns to the end of March. The VAT offer applies to Fabia, Octavia and Roomster with prices starting from £9,144 for the Fabia.
The koda Octavia family hatchback and estate range now features two new engines. A new, downsized 1.2 TSI 105bhp petrol engine is now offered along with the latest 1.6 TDI CR 105bhp diesel engine with DSG dual-clutch transmission.
The state-of-the-art 1.2 TSI 105bhp is available with both six-speed manual and seven-speed DSG gearboxes, in either hatchback or estate bodystyles and in S and SE trim levels.
This engine first saw service in the recently introduced Yeti crossover model, where it impressed with its punchy performance and frugality thanks to its combination of a small-capacity petrol engine with turbocharging and direct injection technology.
It's a similar story in the Octavia, where the 1.2 TSI hatch combines low CO2 emissions of 134g/km with a 0-62mph time of 10.8 seconds - exceptional for its capacity of 1,197cc. Fuel economy is similarly impressive, with a combined figure of 49.6mpg. This new engine is available with both 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG transmissions.
Meanwhile the recently introduced, latest-generation 1.6 TDI CR 105bhp diesel is now also available with the DSG dual-clutch gearbox, combining smooth, effortless performance with CO2 emissions of just 123g/km.The 1.6 TDI CR 105bhp DSG is available with the same bodystyle and trim combinations as the 1.2 TSI as well as in Elegance guise.
With its fourth-generation Haldex clutch four-wheel drive, the new koda Superb Estate 4x4 is available with 1.8 TSI 160bhp and 3.6 V6 260bhp petrol engines as well as the 2.0 TDI CR 170bhp diesel.
