Boost for zero-emission Citroen ev'ie
A NEXT-GENERATION battery pack is all set to boost the appeal of the zero-emission Citroen C1 city car.
Due to be available in the next few months, the latest lithium-ion power source is expected to extend the range of the battery-driven ev'ie model by 40 per cent.
As well as lifting the range of the super-clean C1 to 100 miles on a full charge, the new pack is also thought likely to improve the performance of the car, which is converted to electric propulsion by the Electric Car Corporation.
Under development at Axeon, Europe's largest independent lithium-ion battery systems supplier, the pack is smaller and lighter than the present unit, which provides a 60-mile range and a 60mpg top speed.
Said ECC chief executive David Martell: 'We believe this new battery will improve a car that already leads its class.'
