Here comes the summer

THERE may still be a risk of snow, but car dealers are already well prepared for the long, sunny days of summer.

Many have stocks of used cabriolet models in time for spring, when interest in open-top motoring reaches its peak.

'Traders usually start buying this kind of car toward the end of February, but cabriolets have been changing hands since January despite the Artic weather,' reports Glass's Guide.

According to spokesman Richard Crosthwaite, the rush has been prompted by restricted availability of nearly-new prestige cabriolets as a result of the recession.

'Values are at their lowest point in a decade, so with prices and the weather set to improve, this segment of the car market has got off to a very good start this year,' he said.
