Jobs to go at jewellery chain

A Glasgow-based jewellery chain with stores across Scotland has fallen victim to the economic slump.

Administrators have been appointed to Martin Groundland and Co, which trades under the Symingtons the Retail Jewellers and Red Contemporary Jewellery brands.

The chain, founded in 1978, employs 91 people in 13 shops, 11 in Scotland, one in the north of England and one in Northern Ireland.
