Brown promises a budget for jobs

The Prime Minister promised a budget for jobs when the Cabinet met in Scotland for the first time since 1921.

The promise came at an event where Business Secretary Lord Mandelson declared that people should stop being "so darned pessimistic" about Britain's future.

Gordon Brown told an audience of 300 people: "I know there are many people afraid that unemployment is going to hit them, I know many people are worried someone close to them may lose their job."
