A police officer has won the Edinburgh Marathon on one of the hottest days of the year so far.
Martin Williams, 31, crossed the line in 2:18:24 shaving over a minute off his personal best, winning his first marathon title and reaching the qualifying time target for the Commonwealth Games.
It is only the third time the Dudley-based police officer has entered a marathon and he collected £2250 in prize money and a crystal encrusted trophy for his efforts.
