Almost 1,600 young people are currently being treated for alcohol addiction in Scotland, it has emerged.
An investigation by the Sunday Herald newspaper showed that the number of those aged 18 or under in counselling has doubled since November 2006, when there were 689 who had help for a drink problem.
In 2006 Glasgow City Council had 55 young people in counselling Now it has 115, according to the paper. NHS Highland saw a rise from two to 22.
