Charitable donations 'down 10%'

The number of Scots donating to charity has dipped almost 10% in a year, according to new research.

Scottish men and the middle-aged appeared to have reduced their charitable giving the most as the economy worsened, the research from think-tank nfpSynergy found.

Overall, the number of Scots contacted by researchers who claimed to have donated in the previous six months was 79% in April last year.
