Pressure on jobs threat drinks firm

The Scottish Government has stepped up the pressure on drinks giant Diageo over proposals for 900 redundancies.

Finance Secretary John Swinney visited a Glasgow distillery where 200 of the jobs are to go, accompanied by Scottish Enterprise chief executive Jack Perry.

A Commons debate on the Diageo cuts - 700 at Kilmarnock through the closure of the Johnnie Walker packaging plant and 200 through the closure of the Port Dundas grain distillery - took place last night.
