Quangos spend £350m on consultants

More than £350 million has been paid by three Government quangos to external consultants in recent years, figures have revealed.

The payments were branded "astonishing" at a time of recession by opposition parties.

National transport body Transport Scotland's spending has topped £100 million in each of the last three years.
