Scotland dependent on food imports

Safeguarding food supplies is at the heart of Scottish Government policy, Rural Affairs Secretary Richard Lochhead has said.

The move comes after a report last week indicated that Scotland is currently dependent on imports.

Global food chains may also be disrupted by major emergencies, such as flooding and health scares, according to the analysis of the food supply chain in Scotland.
