Scottish Water twice faced being reported to the procurator fiscal for supplying water unfit for human consumption, it has been revealed.
The latest annual report from the Drinking Water Quality Regulator (DWQR) disclosed this had been considered following an incident at the Loch Ashie water treatment works in Inverness and one at the Newmore water treatment works in the Highlands.
However the report said that following "very careful consideration" it was decided reporting the cases to the procurator fiscal was not justified.
