Escaped red panda fatally injured

A red panda which survived for 19 months in the wild after escaping from a wildlife park has died.

Isla was found injured by the roadside a few miles from the park last week and died later of a severe head injury.

She and her mother Pichu escaped from Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park in February last year after a tree toppled on to their enclosure, allowing them to get out.
