Dozens of accidents after blizzards

Much of Scotland is under a blanket of snow after widespread blizzards.

Icy roads caused dozens of accidents and several sports fixtures had to be cancelled amid the bitterly cold weather, with temperatures struggling to get above freezing in many parts.

Motorists in the Grampian area were troubled with black ice on the main A90 route and the A939 was shut at the Lecht.
