BMA warning over 'GP shortfall'

New GP practices should be established in areas with growing populations, a doctors' group has claimed.

The British Medical Association Scotland (BMA) said that within 23 years the country's population is expected to rise by 7% and this would put pressure on existing GP practices.

The body also warned that bigger GP lists affect patients' ability to access services and said average list sizes have grown by nearly 100 since 2006.
