Scout climber killed in avalanche

A Scout Association member killed in a mountainside avalanche died "doing what he loved", his grandfather has said.

Stephen Young, 18, was leading a walking trip on Creag Meagaidh in Inverness-shire in the Scottish Highlands when he was carried away by the avalanche on Monday afternoon.

His parents, Andrew, 46, who is in the Royal Air Force (RAF), and Judy, 43, a teacher, were both part of the group but were further down the mountain and did not see their son swept away, according to Stephen's grandfather, James, 70.
