Education in Scotland is under a "very real threat" with schools and colleges already struggling to cope in the wake of "severe cuts", union chiefs have claimed.
General secretary of the EIS teaching union Ronnie Smith said: "There is nothing left to trim without cutting deep into the very core of Scottish education, with serious consequences for the educational experience of our young people.
"Schools and colleges are really struggling to cope with the severe cuts they have experienced and the impact on the resources needed for teaching and learning."
