Council may raise class size limits

School class size limits could be raised by a council despite SNP pledges to reduce numbers, it has been revealed.

City of Edinburgh Council is considering raising its limit in primary one to the maximum 30 in the next academic year, beyond the SNP's manifesto commitment of 18.

The Scottish Government said last September that it would bring in legislation for the next school year to cap classes at 25 as part of its drive to further lower the limit.
