The SNP is in talks with Welsh Nationalists about how they could exert the maximum possible influence in the event of a hung parliament at Westminster, it has emerged.
Nationalists have already had early discussions with members of Plaid Cymru about the possibility of working together to try to secure gains for Scotland and Wales if no one party is able to form a majority government.
It is understood the SNP also hopes to have detailed discussions with the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) and the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) on the same issue.
