Lib Dems manifesto 'to the point'

The Liberal Democrats will fight the general election with a stripped-back manifesto, party activists have been told.

Danny Alexander, charged with drawing up the party's election manifesto, said it would contain only the essentials.

Mr Alexander, chief of staff to UK leader Nick Clegg, told the Lib Dems' Scottish spring conference: "The Liberal Democrat manifesto will be short, direct and to the point.
