£7m Malawi aid package unveiled

Projects working to help people in the poverty-stricken nation of Malawi are to receive more than £7 million, it was announced.

External Affairs Minister Fiona Hyslop said that 21 projects had been awarded a total of £7.2 million over three years. The funding was revealed as MSPs at Holyrood debated international development work in the African country.

The minister told them: "Earlier today I was pleased to announce a funding package for Malawi of more than £7 million over three financial years."
