Britain braced for torrential rain

Blustery winds are expected to hit England and Wales on Tuesday causing more misery to rain-soaked Britons.

Gusts of up to 50mph are expected in some regions, adding to the school holiday gloom caused by recent heavy downpours.

Meanwhile, severe weather warnings remained in place for parts of Scotland, forecasters said.
