Film festival director leaves post

The artistic director of one of Britain's biggest film festivals has stepped down from her role, it has been announced.

Hannah McGill took up the post with the Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) in September 2006 and curated her first festival the following year.

Under her leadership, the EIFF moved out of the city's hectic festival season in August to its own stand-alone slot in June.
