Cuts 'would hit Games security'

Policing the 2014 Commonwealth Games while keeping Scotland's streets safe will be "impossible" if planned cuts go ahead, a leading police representative has warned.

Les Gray, chairman of the Scottish Police Federation, said forces will not cope with staffing the Games if budgets and officer numbers dwindle.

The group said it was anticipating a drop of 24% in police budgets over the next four years.
