Public discussion on wildlife bill

Animal welfare groups will go head to head with gamekeepers when discussions begin on changes to environment laws next month, it has been announced.

A Holyrood committee will convene at a Borders town to gauge opinions and try to "strike the correct balance" with the Wildlife and Natural Environment Bill.

The legislation covers controversial issues such as snaring, which has led to protests outside the Scottish Parliament.
