Seven teachers struck off this year

Seven teachers have been struck off the register so far this year, figures have shown.

The disclosure follows a rising trend in the number of teachers banned from the classroom each year - from six in 1998-99 to 17 in 2009-10.

The latest figures add to the 101 teachers removed from the register over that period.
