Nearly two million tickets were sold at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe, organisers said

Famous names at the world's largest arts festival included Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy, Abi Titmuss and comedian Paul Merton.

Organisers the Fringe Society said an estimated 1,955,913 tickets were sold for the 64th Edinburgh Festival Fringe, which started on August 6 and finished on Monday.
