Standard Life set to axe 500 jobs

Scotland's financial sector suffered another blow when insurance firm Standard Life announced it was axing almost 500 jobs in the capital.

Up to 600 posts are being cut by the life and pensions group Standard Life, with about 480 jobs to go in Edinburgh.

The company also plans about 95 job losses across its regional offices in the UK, with another 25 to be cut across its overseas operations.
