Tobacco firm fails in ban appeal

A judge has dismissed a legal challenge against the Scottish Government's ban on displaying tobacco in stores.

Imperial Tobacco Limited had gone to court in a bid to challenge the competence of the measure, as well as the forthcoming ban on selling cigarettes from vending machines.

The firm had argued both of these were outside the legislative competence of the Scottish Parliament, and took its case to the Court of Session in Edinburgh.
