Future of missile range secured

The UK's largest missile range will remain in use for at least the next five years, the Ministry of Defence has confirmed.

The Hebrides Range, used for the live firing of rockets and missiles for testing, employs around 200 people.

The range, which was established in the 1950s, is located in the Outer Hebrides and includes a radar station on St Kilda. It is operated on the MOD's behalf by defence technology firm QinetiQ.
