BUDDING designers took the opportunity to learn about their art during a special visit to West Lothian College.
The P7 pupils from Stoneyburn Primary School paid the visit recently to design an advert for the college to be included in their class yearbook.
Stoneyburn became the first primary school to make an official visit to the college, and were accompanied by class teacher Fraser Mackie.
The budding advertising designers received a tour of the college, chatted to staff and took photographs to gain inspiration for their design.
The first visit was so successful that the pupils returned to the college last month to take part in the Business, Computing and Creative Industries Open Day.
Class teacher Fraser Mackie said he was delighted by the success of the event.
He said: “It has been such a valuable experience to work with West Lothian College.
“My primary seven pupils have thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were able to learn new skills that are not catered for at school, such as using a photographic studio. They are all looking forward to the future and realise that there are so many opportunities out there to reach for.”
Jenny McPhillips, marketing executive at West Lothian College, said she is pleased the pupils gained so much from the experience.
She said: “We were delighted to welcome the pupils from Stoneyburn Primary to the college.
“After they approached us to advertise in their year book, we thought it would be interesting for the pupils to design the advert themselves.
“Having the pupils come into college gave them a better idea of what college is like and provided some good ideas to use in their advert.”
