THIS week Jim Devine MP endorsed the DVD 'A Soldiers Return' which is a documentary about a local hero Corporal Robert Beveridge MM.
Robert was from Broxburn/Uphall and went to the Somme in 1916 never to return. He served with 'C coy' of the '12th Royal Scots'.
Robert was decorated with the Military Medal for his bravery.
A forgotten local hero for many years, his name is now inscribed on the Parish War Memorial, St Nicholas Church, Strathbrock, Uphall.
On behalf of Inspired Productions, I would like to thank the local councillors Graeme Morrice and Alex Davidson, Jim Devine MP, Rev David Black and the chairman of Uphall Community Council John Richardson for supporting the DVD of the amazing true story.
It's very important to recognise the sacrifice and appreciate the thousands like Robert who died defending United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
Thanks to West Lothian Council, this DVD 'A Soldiers Return' will now be part of every child's education. Learning about the First World War and Robert's story will demonstrate and explain what these men did for us all.
Jim Devine has now promised to write to every MP in Westminster to keep the memory of Robert and the thousands of others who gave their lives at the Somme, Passchendale, Ypres and Arras alive.
I hope every council all over the UK can make use of this DVD .
The DVD can be purchased at local outlets or via email: ASOLDIERSRETURN@hotmail.com
Lest we forget!
