Public asked views on Bathgate’s upgrading

CONSULTATION took place last week on a draft framework to guide improvements and change within Bathgate town centre.

West Lothian Council, in partnership with Enterprising Bathgate, commissioned Ironside Farrar, a firm of environmental consultants, to produce the guidelines.

The final report will set out design guidance with the aim of bringing about consistent improvement in the quality of Bathgate town centre’s townscape and public realm.

A draft design guide had been produced and the council wanted to consult on its content.

An exhibition was housed in a mobile events unit located outside St David’s Church, George Street, last week, where there was an opportunity to view the proposals and make comments on the draft document.

Councillor Jim Walker said: “The public consultation was an important stage in this process as feedback regarding the proposals will be taken into consideration during the finalisation of the Design Guide, which will provide a framework for the future development of Bathgate Town Centre.”
