Probus Club: President George Gillies welcomed members and visitors also two visiting members from Bathgate Probus. After Probus business was completed President George introduced the speaker of the morning Gordon Johnston who has spoken at the Probus Club on a number of occasions and once more excelled himself by showing a video of the Malawi culture, told stories about the children and how keen they are to learn. Gordon then answered many interesting questions from members. The vote of thanks was given by Wesley Ball.

Guild: The Whitburn South Church Guild will meet up again this Thursday (tonight) in the Church Hall at 7pm. The speaker is from Project Borderline. The Silent Auction that the Guild ran raised in total £340.

Tippethill League Of Friends: On October 30, Raymond Carse, of the Tartan Lads Fame will be entertaining at the Halloween Party for the patients of the Baillie Wing and the Roseberry Wing. A tombola stand will be there for those to chance their luck. The evening starts at 7.15pm. On November 12 at 2.15pm there will be a Musical Entertainment afternoon by Ronnie and his magic keyboard. On October 27 at 7.15pm a Scottish Night features Norma Bonnar on the accordion and young dancers from the Linda Pettigrew School of Dancing.

LLOL 150: will be holding a Pie, Pea and Bingo night on Tuesday, November 4 in the Whitburn Juniors Football Club. Entrance £1 or pay at the door, great prizes to be won. Doors open at 7pm and its eyes down at 7.30pm.

Councillor Surgery: Councillor Jim Dickson's surgery will be held in East Whitburn on Tuesday, October 28 at 3pm to 3.45pm and in Blackburn Connected from 4-5pm.

Blood Donors: Still at chance to give blood on Thursday (today) in the South Church hall either at 2-4pm or in the evening at 5-7.30pm.

Whitburn Flute Band The band is holding a fundraising night this Saturday, October 25 at 7.30pm and a disco will also be held. Tickets £5.

One World Week Coffee Morning: The event will be held in the Brucefield Church Hall this Saturday at 10am. All for a good cause.

Blytheswood Shoe Box Appeal: The shoe boxes can be delivered up to the Whitburn South Church Hall on either October 26 or 27 or anytime possible before that. All contributions will be greatly accepted.

Whitburn Gala Day Committee: Meeting will be held in the Sangster Lounge of the Community Centre. Looking for new members with ideas for gala days. All welcome.

Whitburn Juniors Social Club: The entertainment for members and friends of the social club starts on Saturday with Reunited, a piece show band. On Sunday the entertainer will be Graeme Harrower. On Friday, November the 7 another great show for all will be presented with the entertainers Angel Star, a top cabaret show band. Tickets £4 can be bought in the usual fashion.

Whitburn Juniors Lottery: The lottery numbers drawn last Saturday evening were 2, 10, 11, 15. There were no winners. The jackpot on Saturday evening will be £2200. A bit of a rush now on.

Brucefield Church: This week's event is the One World Week Coffee Morning on Saturday from 10am to noon in Brucefeild Church Hall. Four churches in the town come together under the roof of the Fairtrade umbrella to promote Fairtrade ideals and raise money for Third World projects. Admission £2, tickets available from all the local churches or payable at the door. The money this time will go to the Tear Fund "Flush Away Poverty" campaign which is designed to provide clean water for poorer countries – the item which many of them put at the top of their list of priorities. So, come along and help, please. The church is also doing its usual end of the month cuppa and Fairtrade stall on Sunday. Over the next to or three weeks, there will be a chance to donate to the West Lothian Christmas Toy appeal. Come one come all for this appeal.

Whitburn Miners’ Welfare: Entertainment starts on Thursday with bingo at 7pm and disco/karaoke 9pm-midnight. Friday, dancing with Ben. Saturday, bingo at 2pm and in the evening dancing to music from The Works. Sunday, bingo at 7pm.

Tickets on sale for the Christmas dance on December 20 priced £2. tickets also on sale for New Year celebrations in the big hall priced £6. Family room priced adults £3, kids £1.

Bowling Club: The Presentation Dance will take place on Friday, October 31, 7pm-1am in the bowling club.
